Journal Culture Awards 2017 - Writer of the Year finalist.

Exciting news! I've been nominated in the Journal Cuture Awards 2017 for Gallows Drop. There is no finer compliment than receiving validation from award judges following a public vote. The consequence of setting my books in the north means that my name has become synonymous with Newcastle/Northumberland where I live and work.

The cultural identity and heritage of the region is important to me and I am thrilled to recieve this recognition. The area and its people inspire me every day. One thing unites the people of the NE: they are passionate about this unique part of the world, a landscape that has long influenced art, be that music, painting, poetry or prose, providing writers and artists with a constant flow of ideas and creativity. These awards celebrate that cultural diversity and I’m so proud of being named as a finalist in the Culture Awards 2017 ‘Writer of the Year’ category.
